Stars and Eagles Play to 2-2 Draw  

CORDOVA, TN (September 23, 2021) - On a beautiful night at St. Benedict, the Eagles and Stars played an entertaining soccer game, ending in a 2-2 draw.

Both teams had numerous scoring opportunities in the first half, including a breakaway opportunity for each, but Gracie Luther and the St. Agnes goalkeeper both held strong. The score remained 0-0 at the half.

Early in the second half, Emma Clowney blasted a shot from well outside the box that sailed over the fingertips of the Stars goalie and into the net. St. Agnes quickly responded minutes later to knot the game at 1-1 once more. After a series of advances, Maria Bair received a through ball up the middle, made a move to get past the keeper, and finished the shot to take a 2-1 lead. Once again, St. Agnes responded very quickly to tie it 2-2. Despite numerous scoring chances for both squads in the final minutes, the clock ran out and this evenly fought contest ended in a tie.

St. Benedict (3-7-1, 0-5-1) will have a week to recuperate before facing Hutchison in their final home game of the season on Thursday 9/30.
