SBA Girls Compete in Battle of Greenbelt

(COLLIERVILLE, TN - February 26-27, 2022) - The SBA girls' lacrosse team played in the Battle of the Greenbelt Tournament in Collierville this weekend, winning two of their three games.

In the first game of the tournament, the girls lost to Bentonville (AR) 13-5. Freshmen Bailey Gegg and Kate Simoncic scored two goals each and Zoe Littlejohn added one herself. Gaby Caron racked up 19 saves in goal to prevent further damage.

The girls next faced off against Mt. St. Mary (AR) and pulled out a 10-4 win to secure their first victory of the season. Gegg, Simoncic, and Gianna DiGaetano scored two goals apiece, while Littlejohn, Ava Evans, and Layton Patel also scored. Emma Petit (3 saves) manned the goal.

In the final game of the tournament, the team defeated Webb 10-3. Kate Simoncic was on fire, scoring seven goals in the game, and Gegg (2 goals) and Littlejohn (1 goal) provided the remainder of the offense.

The team is now 2-6-1 on the season and will play a rescheduled game at Lausanne on Tuesday.
