Girls' Bowling Earns State Runner-Up Honors

(SMYRNA, TN - January 25-26, 2024) - The Lady Eagle bowling team is bringing home some hardware after finishing second in the TSSAA State Tournament in Smyrna over the weekend.

After defeating Pope John Paul 19-8 in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, they won their semifinal match against Boyd Buchanan from Chattanooga by a score of 24-3, knocking down a total of 2151 total pins to Boyd Buchanan's 1826.

They then moved to the championship match to face the Lady Commanders of Nashville's Friendship Christian.

Once again, the team bowled well, knocking down a total of 2127 pins, but fell short of victory by 39 pins.

The final score was 16-11 in favor of Friendship Christian and the team finished as the State Runner-Up with a record of 8-3.

As for the boys, they also had a strong showing, which began with a 15-12 victory over McCallie in the quarterfinal round.

However, the momentum was stopped by Friendship Christian in their semifinal matchup as the Commanders bested the Eagles by a score of 21-6.

It was the first loss of the season in ten matches for the team, who finished tied for third in the state.
