Stars Hold Lead to Beat SBA Girls

(CORDOVA, TN - January 21, 2022) - The Eagle girls met St. Agnes (11-5, 1-1) in a region game at The Nest on Friday night.

The first half was tightly contested. St. Agnes got out on the fastbreak and used a balanced attack to take an early lead but SBA responded to cut the lead to 21-20 by halftime. Maria Bair was the driving force, scoring all of her team high 10 points in the first half.

The Stars made their run out of the break and won the third quarter by a score of 15-6, building a lead that ultimately proved sufficient. Olivia Page (11 pts) and Skylyn Weisenborn (9 pts) were the high scorers for St. Agnes but the team continued with their balanced attack.

Farrah Rector got going in the fourth quarter, scoring all of her six points, and the Eagles showed some fight. However, the Stars made enough plays to pull out a 48-37 victory.

The girls are 3-13 and 1-2 in the region and will host ECS on Saturday.
