SBA Girls Take Down Brighton

(CORDOVA, TN - January 4, 2022) - The St. Benedict girls' basketball team started off 2022 the right way with a win against Brighton at The Nest on Tuesday night.

Three Eagles notched double figure scoring totals in the victory. Izzie Polania was the leading scorer for SBA with 16 points. Maria Bair (13 pts) and Gracie Lamey (10 pts) also had strong games.

Those three led the way in the first half as the Eagles ran out to a 31-19 halftime lead. The barrage continued after the break and a 22-5 third quarter put Brighton away for good.

The Cardinals managed to win the fourth quarter and leading scorer Gus Johnson (23 pts) fought until the end but the damage had been done and SBA cruised to a 67-43 victory.

The girls (2-9) will make the short trip to ECS for a road game on Thursday.
