SBA Girls Lose at St. George's

(COLLIERVILLE, TN - December 17, 2021) - The St. Benedict basketball teams made the trip to Collierville to play St. George's on Friday night.

The girls' matchup was a back and forth affair that ended in a St. George's victory. The Gryphons held an 11-5 lead after the first quarter, with balanced scoring in the opening frame.

SBA fought back immediately, winning the second quarter and splitting the third quarter. Izzie Polania (10 pts) and Maria Bair (9 pts) led the way, while others such as Farrah Rector and Gracie Lamey (7 pts each), provided support.

The Eagle offensive surge dried up in the fourth quarter. St. George's used a 11-3 fourth quarter to eliminate any doubt. Lauryn Denton (20 pts) was the leading scorer for St. George's and was the main offensive spark for them, along with Aaliyah Converse (16 pts).

The SBA girls are 1-6 and will be back at home to face Millington on Monday.
