SBA Girls Notch First Win of Season

(CORDOVA, TN - December 3, 2021) - The 2021-22 home varsity basketball schedule got rolling Thursday night at The Nest when the SBA girls matched up with Germantown.

The game was tight from the opening tipoff to the final buzzer. Izzie Polania (8 pts) knocked down a couple of early three-pointers to set the tone and the SBA defense kept the Red Devils in check for much of the first half. After two quarters, the Eagles held an 18-13 lead.

In the second half, N'Deye Gueye (12 pts) and JaMaya McKinley (10 pts) heated up for Germantown as they began to establish a presence in the paint.

However, SBA held the lead until the end thanks to composed ballhandling from Polania and balanced scoring from a bunch of Eagles, including Maria Bair (9 pts), Gracie Lamey (7 pts), Ella Lamey (6 pts) and Sarah Wiggins (5 pts).

The clock hit zeroes and the girls celebrated a 41-38 victory to move to 1-1 on the year. They will travel to Hendersonville this weekend to face Pope John Paul II.
