Softball Splits First Two of Southaven Tournament

(SOUTHAVEN, MS - April 1, 2022) - The softball team opened its weekend tournament in Southaven, Mississippi by splitting the first two games on Friday night.

In the first game, they beat Northpoint (MS) 17-6. Ginny Gex got the win on the mound. The offense was led by Neely Taylor (2-2, BB, RBI) and Therese Daigre (2-3, RBI). Charlee Smith had 3 RBI and Meredith McCusker had 2 RBI.

In the second game, the team lost to Lewisburg (MS) 6-4. The Patriots held a 4-0 lead into the 5th, when the Eagles scored four runs before the comeback fell short. Smith started the game on the mound and went 2-3 with 2 RBI at the plate. Gex, McCusker, and Zoie Bernard each had hits.

The next tournament game is Saturday against Brighton.
