Leoni Wins Fast & Furious to Open Season

MEMPHIS, TN (August 28, 2021) – Senior Daniel Leoni started his final year of high school cross country in a big way, winning the season-opening Fast & Furious Early Bird race on Saturday. 

Leoni clocked a 17:54 on the challenging course at Ed Rice Park, winning by 12 seconds over Ryan Coley of Munford.

Colin Kozlowski was 11^th in 21:34 and Josh Green 13^th in 21:45. Vince Koch in 15^th (21:56) and Trevor Scott in 21^st (23:07) rounded out the top-five Eagles.

On the girl's side, Sommer Griffs led the way with a fourth-place finish in 23:39. The next five Eagles finished in a pack, led by Sarah Wiggins taking seventh in 25:28. Anna Leoni was eighth (25:37), Kayleigh Villem ninth (25:55), Madeline Wade 10^th (27:14) and Jenna Houff 11^th (27:16).

The SBA runners are back in action on Saturday, September 4 at the CityAuto Memphis Twilight Classic, hosted at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
