Eagle Boys Rally To Win Region Championship

(BARTLETT, TN - December 8, 2022) - The boys' bowling team entered Thursday's regular season finale needing both a win over Briarcrest by a particular pin margin to clinch the region title. Both objectives were accomplished in a match that was tight until the very end.

Ben Miller (243) and Adam Fillion (235) rolled big games in the American 10-Pin round and the team won the bonus points for total pins (1152-1064), but Briarcrest squeezed out wins in the other four matchups to settle the score at 4-4.

The first four Baker rounds were split by the two teams, leaving the final Baker round as the deciding factor in not only the match but the region standings for the year.

The Saints took the final Baker points, but the Eagles claimed the bonus points for Baker pin total (905-882).

The three bonus points for overall match pin total broke the 10-10 tie in favor of the Eagles, who outbowled Briarcrest 2057-1946 to earn the victory and move to 7-1 on the year.

Additionally, because Briarcrest also finished 7-1, the team needed to win the overall pin total by 98 pins to secure the region title and they did so by a slim eight pin margin.

The newly crowned regional champs will look to make a postseason run at the TSSAA State Tournament in January.
