Overton Beats SBA Boys

(CORDOVA, TN - February 8, 2022) - The SBA boys' basketball team welcomed Overton (18-7) to The Nest on Tuesday night. The two teams played a fast-paced, high scoring game that resulted in a 77-70 Overton victory.

The Wolverines grabbed an early 18-9 lead in the first quarter, but SBA stormed back with a big second quarter to take a 33-29 lead at the half. Both teams had multiple players in double figures and spread out the scoring load early.

In the second half, Overton began to slowly build its lead despite more strong shooting from the Eagles. Jaylen Hardaway was their leading scorer, with 20 points, while Jheronne Jones (17 points) and Jaden Taylor (13 points) also provided a spark.

Damion Cox had a huge fourth quarter on his way to a season-high 33 points for the Eagles and Marcus Gray (13 points) also provided support, but Overton's 30 point fourth quarter was the nail in the coffin.

The boys (7-13) have a big region contest at CBHS coming up on Friday.
