Dragons Beat Eagles in Shootout

(COLLIERVILLE, TN - January 18, 2022) - The SBA boys' basketball team lost in a shootout at Collierville on Tuesday night by a score of 76-61.

Both teams came out hot in the first half, matching each other shot for shot. Phil Dotson led the way early for the Dragons, scoring most of his 19 points in the first half.

The Eagles used a balanced approach to keep pace, led by leading scorer Damion Cox (18 pts) and Gary Bair (12 pts). At halftime, the game was tied 31-31.

Collierville came out of the half blazing and used a 20-6 third quarter to take a double-digit lead. Game high scorer Alex Vandenbergh got rolling and scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half.

The SBA offense, as has been true all season, made a late push but the Dragons matched the surge to maintain the lead and escape with a victory.

The boys (6-9) will look for their first region win of the season on Friday night at The Nest against CBHS.
