SBA Boys Beat Tornadoes Again in Rematch

(UNION CITY, TN - January 8, 2022) - The Eagle boys' basketball team made the long trip north to Union City for a rematch with the Tornadoes on Saturday afternoon.

For three quarters, it appeared SBA was going to roll to an easy victory. Game high scorer Damion Cox scored half of his 30 points in the first half while Gary Bair (18 pts) also helped build the lead.

At halftime, the Eagles held a 35-22 lead. In the second half, both teams heated up offensively but SBA extended the lead again thanks to a strong quarter from Marcus Gray, who had 15 points in the game.

The game appeared to be over until Union City produced a 38 point fourth quarter. The Tornadoes' leading scorer, Malaki Brooks (28 pts), put forth a valiant effort but Cox and Bair were able to ice the game from the free throw line.

The boys (6-7) will open region play at home next week against MUS.
