SBA Boys Win Battle of Eagles

(CORDOVA, TN - December 10, 2021) - In a game that was moved up an hour due to expected inclement weather in the area, Jackson Christian (4-4) and St. Benedict played a tight, back and forth game.

SBA got out to a hot start thanks to Josh Neely's (11 pts) three first half three-pointers and supporting scoring from Damion Cox (16 pts) and Gary Bair (13 pts).

Jackson Christian punched back, led by Ayden Shaw (14 pts) and Walker Rhea (15 pts), as both teams made big shots. At halftime, SBA held a 37-32 lead.

In the third quarter, the tide turned as Rhea and others grabbed the momentum for Jackson Christian, while the SBA offense went cold and only scored seven points.

As has been the case all season, the boys fought back in the fourth quarter. This time, it paid off in the form of a victory thanks to big buckets by Cox, timely offense rebounds from Marcus Gray (11 pts), and big late free throws from Bair.

In the end, the team controlled possession and grinded out a 60-52 win. The boys (3-5) will travel to face Sacred Heart in Jackson on Thursday.
