Lipscomb Squeezes by SBA

(NASHVILLE, TN - December 3, 2021) - The SBA boys' basketball squad traveled to Nashville on Friday afternoon to play Lipscomb Academy in their second game in as many days.

The Mustangs galloped out to a 41-30 halftime advantage, led by top scorer Willie Walton (25 pts). Myles Sidney (16 pts) and Brandon Sweeney (15 pts) also provided some firepower for Lipscomb.

The Mustangs built on their lead a bit in the third quarter but, for the second game in a row, the SBA offense came to life in the fourth quarter and made a spirited push, outscoring Lipscomb in the quarter 25-13. Marcus Gray (25 pts), Gary Bair (21 pts), and Damion Cox (16 pts) all had strong fourth quarters and a result that once felt certain suddenly was very much in question.

In the end, the margin proved too steep to overcome for the Eagles and Lipscomb took the game 76-73.

SBA is now 1-4 on the year. The team will stay in central Tennessee and square off with Pope John Paul II on Saturday.
