Eagles Fall to Germantown in Home Opener

(CORDOVA, TN - December 2, 2021) - The first night of basketball at The Nest in the 2021-22 season culminated with a matchup between the SBA boys and the Germantown Red Devils.

Germantown came out of the gate scorching hot from the field and held a 21-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Kaleb Jeffries contributed the majority of his 12 points early on for the Red Devils.

The Eagles found more of a rhythm in the second quarter, but still trailed 40-22 at halftime.

Despite being down double digits for much of the game, SBA rallied in the second half. The boys scored 25 points in the third quarter and 21 in the fourth, led by strong drives to the basket from Marcus Gray (23 pts) and Gary Bair (17 pts).

In tense moments late in the fourth quarter, Germantown received a technical foul and committed a few turnovers that produced a slight glimmer of hope for the Eagles. However, the steady scoring efforts of Anthony Medlock (23 pts) and Jacory Dixon (18 pts) for the Red Devils proved to be too much.

The boys are 1-3 and will travel to Nashville this afternoon to play at Lipscomb Academy.
