Eagles End Regular Season With Loss at CBHS

(MEMPHIS, TN - October 28, 2022) - The football team traveled to CBHS for its yearly matchup with the Purple Wave on Friday night.

Jaxon Hammond got the scoring started for CBHS right off the bat, catching a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jack McLaughlin, his first of three (2 rec, 1 rush) on the day.

The Eagles responded immediately with a 79-yard touchdown connection from Alex McAlpin to Cayden Willis. The extra point was missed, leaving the score at 7-6 in favor of CBHS.

The rest of the first half was all Purple Wave, as they scored two more touchdowns in the first quarter and five in the second quarter to make the score 56-6 at halftime. Quarterback Jack McLaughlin finished with 226 yards and four touchdowns.

Although the game was all but decided, SBA fought valiantly and played the Wave even in the second half. McAlpin and Willis connected on two more long touchdowns by the end of the game.

McAlpin finished with 253 passing yards and three touchdowns, all to Willis, who had 189 receiving yards on the day. CBHS running back Brian Johnson also stood out, rushing for 134 yards and three touchdowns.

The Eagles (2-8, 0-5) will travel to McCallie in Chattanooga for the first round of the Division II-AAA playoffs on Friday.
