(CORDOVA, TN - August 26, 2022) - The SBA football team met their nearby neighbors, the Cordova Wolves, for an early season matchup at Cordova High School on Friday night.
Both offenses got out to a slow start until Cordova quarterback DeVondre Collins rushed for a touchdown to give the Wolves a 6-0 lead toward the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was a different story. Alex McAlpin threw three touchdowns, including two to Cayden Willis and one to Jordan Ward, to jumpstart the Eagle offense.
Willis' second touchdown, a 72 yard scamper, came with just a few second left in the half.
Collins threw a touchdown and Raymond Tate scored on the ground for Cordova to leave the halftime score at 21-20 in favor of the Wolves.
Outside of a McAlpin to Ward touchdown connection, the second half was all Cordova.
Jaylen Webster came in to throw two touchdown passes and three different Wolves scored rushing touchdowns.
The final score resulted in a 57-28 Cordova victory. The team (0-2) will play its first region game of the year at home on Friday against MUS.
