Eagles Blanked by Owls in Region Opener

MEMPHIS, TN (September 3, 2021) – The young St. Benedict at Auburndale football team suffered through some growing pains Friday, falling to MUS 42-0 on the road.

The loss drops the Eagles to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the region while the Owls improve to 2-1, 1-0.

SBA found itself down early, slipping into a 28-0 hole after the first quarter. MUS added another score midway through the second and a final TD with a minute left in the third.

Alex McAlpin went 8-of-20 in the air for 53 yards. Cayden Willis caught three balls for 11 yards while Darien Bell and Zach Spencer each grabbed a pair for 20 yards.

MUS did most of its damage on the ground, racking up 202 rushing yards, led by Makhi Shaw's 61. George Hamsley went 4-of-4 with 57 yards and two scores to lead the Owls in the air.

The Eagles return to The Nest on Friday, September 10 hosting St. George's. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m.
