Baseball Splits Doubleheader Against Sacred Heart

(CORDOVA, TN - April 14, 2022) - The baseball team hosted Sacred Heart of Jesus (Jackson, TN) for a doubleheader on Thursday to kick off Easter Break.

Cooper Nerby started the first game on the mound and the Eagles were able to keep it close until the Knights erupted in their five-run fourth inning to break the game open.

Alex Twigg had two hits, including a triple, and two RBI, while Mason McHughes and Sam Price both had two hits. The final score was 14-2.

In the second game, Twigg pitched his best game of the season to date, going 6.1 innings and only allowing three hits and two earned runs, striking out seven. He also went 3-4 at the plate.

Aiden Bolling went 2-3 with a walk and a clutch triple that got some momentum going in the sixth for SBA. Alex McAlpin also had a huge RBI double.

When Twigg finally ran out of gas, Cole Allen came in to finish the top of the seventh, although Sacred Heart was able to tie the game at 4-4. The Eagles were able to walk it off on Price's fly ball that was mishandled by the Knights' left fielder to secure their second win of the season.

The team will go into Easter Break with a 2-20 record, looking forward to a region series with MUS.
