Eagle Girls Earn First Win in Home Opener

(CORDOVA, TN - November 18, 2022) - The girls' basketball team won its first game of the 2022-23 season in Friday night's home opener against FACS.

Maria Bair was the leading scorer for the Eagles, scoring 18 points to go with her 13 rebounds.

Bair and sophomore Molly Magness hit some big shots early on as the team built a 27-26 halftime lead.

Magness made two of her three three pointers in the third quarter to match an FACS offensive surge and hold the slight lead going into the fourth quarter.

The FACS offense, which revolved around DenNay Kennedy (17 points) and Dejah Richmond (16 points), was held to nine points in the fourth quarter by the Eagle defense as Izzy Henderson scored all of her eight points in the fourth quarter to push SBA ahead for good.

The game ended in a 52-49 win for the Eagles, a early season confidence boost.

The team will be idle for Thanksgiving Break before facing Houston on Nov. 29.
