Softball Finishes Second in Region

(CORDOVA, TN - May 10, 2022) - The softball team played two Region Tournament games on Tuesday at The Nest.

The first was an elimination game against Briarcrest. The Eagles once again dominated the Saints by a score of 12-2.

Charlee Smith (3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER 1 BB, 2 K) was in control on the mound and Neely Taylor homered in a two-hit, three-RBI effort.

Zoie Bernard had two hits, while Mary Spain and Farrah Rector both had RBI doubles.

The victory over the Saints set up a championship game matchup with Tipton-Rosemark. In that game, SBA got off to a promising start, leading 2-0 after four innings.

Smith was yet again solid on the mound, pitching a complete game. Bernard had three hits in the game, while Smith and Ginny Gex both had two hits and Farrah Rector drove in another run.

But the Rebels were up to the challenge, once again making a late inning comeback, this time aided by Eagle defensive mishaps. Two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth secured the region crown for TRA.

The team's record sits at 13-18 as they await their state playoff matchup.
