Softball Pounds Briarcrest to Improve to 3-0 in Region

(CORDOVA, TN - April 23, 2022) - On a beautiful Saturday at The Nest, the softball team dominated Briarcrest, winning 21-6.

Charlee Smith started the game for the Eagles, striking out six batters in 2.2 innings before being relieved by Ginny Gex.

The Saints were able to keep the game close with timely hits and both teams struggled to deal with windy conditions. The game was tied 6-6 in the fourth inning before the Eagle offense erupted, scoring 15 unanswered runs and ending the game early due to the mercy rule.

Freshman Zoie Bernard led the way, going 3-3 with two walks and five RBI. Neely Taylor (4 RBI), Madeline Wade (2 RBI), and Chloe Gerard (1 RBI) each recorded two hits on the day. Every starter recorded a hit, with the exception of Maggie Heck, who reached base via walk in each of her four plate appearances.

The girls are now 3-0 in the region and 10-13 overall. They will travel to Tipton-Rosemark on Tuesday for another region matchup.
