Eagle Boys Finish Third in State

(SMYRNA, TN - January 19-20, 2023) - The boys' bowling team made its yearly trek to Smyrna to compete in the TSSAA II-AA State Team Tournament.

In the quarterfinal round, they handled Pope John Paul II by a score of 16-7. Jaylon Hawkins (193), Gabe Springer (190), and Ethan Nichols (163) earned points in the American 10-Pin round and the team took a 5-3 lead thanks to the pin total bonus points.

After dropping the first two Baker rounds, they won the next three to cruise to victory and set up a semifinal matchup with Columbia Academy.

Columbia, who would eventually go on to defeat Friendship Christian by one point in the final, proved to be a challenging opponent.

Ethan Nichols (217) and Ben Miller (178) earned points for the Eagles in the American 10-Pin round, but Columbia held an early 6-2 lead.

SBA won three of the first four Baker games to keep the end result in question, but Columbia won the final Baker game and took the pin total points to secure a 13-10 victory.

The boys finished the year with an 8-2 record.
