Owls Sneak Past Eagle Boys

(MEMPHIS, TN - January 13, 2023) - The boys' basketball team opened its region slate on Friday night against MUS.

Both teams sputtered out of the gate before the Owls settled down and took a 13-7 lead into the second quarter.

The defensive slugfest continued in the following stanza, but the Eagles found a bit of rhythm and cut the lead to a two point deficit by halftime.

The second half was punctuated by better shooting on both ends and also by struggles at the free throw line.

MUS was able to slowly build a lead that eventually became too much for SBA to overcome.

Point guard Brandon Nicholson was the focal point of the MUS offense from start to finish and led all scorers with 19 points.

Damion Cox (16 points) and Marcus Gray (11 points) both finished in double figures for the Eagles.

The team is now 10-4 and will face MHEA on Tuesday night.
