Cougars Defeat Eagle Boys in Overtime

(CORDOVA, TN - December 13, 2022) - The boys' basketball team hosted Munford at The Nest on Tuesday night.

Students who braved the rainy conditions to take a break from studying for midterm exams were treated to a good one.

The Eagle offense came out firing on all cylinders early as they've done all year, building a 38-31 halftime lead.

Game high scorer Damion Cox led the push, scoring 10 of his 24 points in the first half.

Marcus Gray (19) and Kylon Jones (18) provided plenty of offensive support and Ryan Neely (12) also scored in double figures.

The third quarter was all Cougars, as Munford got rolling and tied the game at 56 heading into the final stanza.

From there, the two teams played an even quarter to force overtime.

Munford's leading scorers, JaDyn Lee (21) and Murray Norman (20) carried the bulk of the scoring load in the second half.

In the overtime period, Norman shot 6/6 from the free throw line and Lee scored five points to clinch the win.

Cox put in seven points in the extra frame for SBA, but it wasn't enough and Munford closed out an 84-81 victory.

The team is now 7-2 and will have a few days off before hosting the SBA Christmas Tournament on December 22-23.
