Volleyball Drops Season Opener to Brighton

(CORDOVA, TN - August 15, 2022) - The volleyball team kicked off its 2022 season by hosting Brighton at home on Monday night.

Although the result was not what the Eagles were hoping for, the team showed some promise.

Both of the first two sets were closely contested before the Cardinals pulled away late, winning the first set 25-19 and the second set 25-17.

With their backs against the wall, the Eagles responded by running away with the third set, 25-16. A couple of strong Gabby Huntley kills helped build the momentum.

Brighton was able to retain their composure and methodically closed out the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth set.

The girls will have a chance to earn their first win of the season Tuesday night at Hutchison.
