Lady Eagles Lose Nailbiter at St. Mary's

(MEMPHIS, TN - January 9, 2023) - The girls' basketball team opened its region schedule at St. Mary's on Monday night.

The result was a nailbiter that remained close for the duration before the Turkeys ultimately eked out a 49-47 victory.

After falling behind early, the team closed the deficit in the second quarter and only trailed by two at the half.

Maria Bair was the leading scorer with 16 points, while Farrah Rector (11) and Gracie Lamey (10) also finished in double figures.

The Eagles won the third quarter by two points to tie the game heading into the fourth quarter, but St. Mary's found a way to squeeze out one additional basket for the win.

Erin Roy was the game's high scorer with 17 points.

The team (2-8, 0-1) travels to Hutchison for another region game on Friday.
