Softball Crushes Briarcrest in Tournament Opener

(CORDOVA, TN - May 7, 2022) - The softball team hosted the first round of the Division II-AA West Region Tournament on Saturday and were unwelcoming hosts to Briarcrest.

In the 15-3 victory, the offense erupted for a 17-hit effort. Ginny Gex (2B, 4 RBI), Neely Taylor (2B, 3B, SB, 3 RBI), and Charlee Smith (2B, RBI) each had three hits in the game.

Zoie Bernard, Meredith McCusker, and Madeleine Wade all had two. Charlee Smith pitched all five innings for the Eagles, giving up three runs and striking out two.

The team will play Tipton-Rosemark in a massive game on Monday afternoon to see who will secure a spot in the championship matchup.
