Eagle Boys Win OT Thriller in Home Opener

(CORDOVA, TN - November 18, 2022) - Eagle fans were treated to a thriller in the 2022-23 home opener at The Nest on Friday night.

Both FACS and SBA were up to the task and the game remained close from the opening tip to the final seconds of overtime.

Sophomore Damion Cox attacked the basket all game, scoring 36 points to lead the way for the Eagle offense, including a free throw late in overtime that sealed the 71-70 win.

FACS held a two point lead at halftime. Crusader freshman Cello Jackson scored 17 points, while Kris Carroll (17 points) and Grant Spain (9 points) were money from three point land.

Marcus Gray scored ten points and Ryan Neely put in seven for SBA, but the offense revolved around Cox on this evening.

In the second half, FACS was completely unable to prevent him from getting into the paint and he took advantage by sinking floaters and shooting 14/15 from the free throw line, making numerous big shots at the end of regulation and in overtime.

The result was a gritty victory for the Eagles, who moved to 2-0 on the season.

Next on the schedule is the MUS Shootout, which will be held over Thanksgiving Break.
